I: Provide interdisciplinary clinical training to health care professionals about comprehensive, culturally competent community-based family-centered care for children with chronic respiratory disease.

II: Provide leadership training to assure and improve health care and systems of care for children with special health care needs, and reduce disparities in care for underserved populations.

III: Maintain an exemplary clinical and leadership training program with MCH values that serves children with chronic respiratory conditions with input and evaluation from families, trainees, and leaders.

IV: Increase the capacity of the MCHB infrastructure to assure quality and accessible healthcare for children through partnerships in continuing education, technical assistance, and advocacy activities.

V: Develop and disseminate new knowledge through interdisciplinary research about leadership training, health promotion and disease prevention, family resilience, and health care to CSRHCN.

University of Washington MCH Leadership Consortium

The Pediatric Pulmonary Training Center uses the resources of other training programs at the University of Washington to achieve its goals. In particular, the PPC collaborates closely with the other three MCHB leadership training programs located at the UW.  These include the Maternal Child Health Program in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, the Leadership Training in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Program (LEND) and the Center for Leadership Education in Pediatric Dentistry.

These four programs interact collaboratively to provide extensive resources to all of the trainees in each program for leadership training. The administrative structure that enables coordination of joint leadership training is the UW-MCH Leadership Consortium. The consortium is responsible for UW-MCH Leadership Training activities including the Administrative Skills Workshop, the Leadership Workshop, the Leadership Seminar Series, and the Mentored Leadership Projects.
